Here are some pictures from my lovely weekend with P and P Tours . The sun shone, and the views were stunning! Everyone had a wonderful time - there's nothing nicer than spending time with like-minded people! I did a reading from Willoughby's Return, and I bet you can't guess what film we watched on television. I slept like a dream - I like to think it was all the exercise I did, though I think the odd gin and tonic or glass of wine may have helped. There are wildflowers everywhere - if you want to be Marianne for a day, this is the place to do it! A side view of the house. Here am I standing in the doorway of the house - notice the columns are not there-they were added for the film, as were shutters on the windows to give Georgian proportions. In the room where Emma Thompson does her sewing and bemoans the price of beef! Mrs. Dashwood sat here! A view over the estuary. Waiting for Willoughby to sweep me over the threshold!

Here are some photos from my collection showing the interior of Efford House where they filmed the 1995 version of Sense and Sensibility. As you can see I am no photographer! I can never get photos to look like the images I see - well, I wanted to keep a record and I thought you might be interested to see comparisons with shots from the film. The first shows the view through the doorway looking over the estuary - and here we have gorgeous Greg Wise carrying the equally lovely Kate Winslet up the path. This is a photo of my daughter enjoying the beach on the Flete Estate. I've just finished writing another Jane Austen Sequel, Mrs Brandon's Invitation, inspired by Sense and Sensibility. I loved the Emma Thompson/Ang Lee adaptation which was made in 1995 and so when I had a special birthday looming on the horizon, I thought I would celebrate it in the house where a lot of the film was shot, at Efford House on the Flete Estate, Holbeton, in Devon. My birthday is in November, but the weather was surprisingly mild and we had a few sunny days which were heavenly. I knew the house would look a little different from the way it looked in the film; its windows were given Georgian proportions and the door was given a canopy and columns, but it was still lovely to walk in the Dashwood sister's footsteps up to the entrance and imagine gorgeous Greg Wise, Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman coming to call!
